The estate woodlands host a variety of game birds and rather too many rabbits. Many of the smaller woods were planted to produce driven pheasants and we had some fine shooting. However driven pheasant shooting didn’t prove to be an economic proposition and therefore we have leased our shooting to a local syndicate.
Shooting parties can, of course, stay in the house and shoot for, given notice, we can rent quality driven shooting on nearby estates.
The act of running a shoot creates habitat for numerous other birds and wildlife. It is a recognised fact that bio-diversity is greater on estates managed for shooting than on those that are simply managed for farming and forestry.
The estate can host Clay Pigeon Shooting for groups of more than say 15. The photo below shows some of the shooters from a day organised by Glad Rags and Cartridge Bags.
