Next Garden Opening 12th June 2016
Just under 500 people came to our recent Garden Opening. Many came to see and smell our spectacular Laburnum Walk. As happens every year someone told us it was like the one at Bodnant, 'but only better'. In 2015 we hit it bang on while in 2013 it was too late and 2014 too early - one of the snags of having to commit to a date the previous October.
Also the Walled Garden, with a mixture of lawns, flowerbeds, fruit trees, vegetables and hedges - you can get lost in there.
Our Wild Flower Meadows continue to surprise us and bring an undeserved reward for simply not mowing the grass.
The Woodland Garden with a network of neat grass paths wending their way amongst mature trees and azaleas and rhododendrons, spring and summer flowers. It is a garden for all seasons. We have just completed planting yet more rhododendrons. We think there's more than 130 different varieties in total. Between December 2013 and November 2014 there was at least one rhodo in flower. That's unusual but we do expect to see them in flower from February to August. Of course the new planting will take years to make an impact.
Our extensive Lawns and thought-provoking Planetary Garden give you time to ponder the beauty of Royal Deeside and our place in the universe.
There will also be teas, plant sales, and a free scavenger hunt for the kids. .
You can get a preview of the gardens by looking at the photos on our Garden Page. We shall be opening again on 12th June 2016 from 1.30pm to 4.30 or thereabouts. Hope to see you. £5 adults and reduced for children.
In aid of the Scotland's Gardens scheme, Children 1st and Kincardine O'Neil Village Hall.
We can arrange special garden openings for groups of 12 or more - from £12.50/head* including tea and home-bakes (£17.50 including tour of the castle) - by arrangement only.
