Kincardine Castle is the perfect location for exclusive, magical wedding celebrations. It is an impressive castle set in spectacular gardens, offering a stunning setting for your special day and exclusive use accommodation for you and your guests.
Each wedding is different and we will work with you to create an event which is everything you want from your special day.
The general pattern of a wedding is as follows
While that is the general pattern of events you can make up your own rules (apart that is from conforming to the Marriage Laws).
Receptions are normally held in the Great Hall and Dining Room or, frequently, out in our lovely gardens. This leaves space for photos in the Drawing Room with, should the weather be inclement, great views to the hills of Royal Deeside. Inside guests will ascend the broad marble staircase and enter the Great Hall which, with its timbered ceiling, oak panelling, stags heads, oil paintings, minstrels’ gallery and log fire, is everything you expect of a Scottish castle.
As a rule, dancing is restricted to marquees as we cannot risk damaging valuable paintings and furniture. We can install a marquee close to the castle and this enables use of the lavatories in the building rather than having to hire-in mobile loos. There is a size limit on that site and larger parties have to use our marquee site.
For groups of up to 150 we provide catering in-house with our own very talented chefs who provide the finest food in Aberdeenshire. For larger events or where our schedule causes problems we offer caterers from our approved list. Other caterers are not permitted as we cannot guarantee they’ll deliver to our high standard.
Needless to say the interior and exterior of Kincardine Castle and the gardens provide spectacular backdrops for your wedding photographs. We can direct you to photographers who have worked here.
Subject to licensing arrangements, we have the space and the scenery for a fireworks display.
At this early stage it is not possible to give a firm quotation as I don’t have sufficient description as to what is required. Use of Kincardine for even a simple reception requires valuable furniture to be moved, stored and replaced, as well as a host of other things to organise. I would suggest that you budget for a minimum facility fee of £3,000 + VAT for an event in the house and £1,500 – £2,500 + VAT for an event on the marquee site. Larger, more complex, weddings will involve a great deal of management time and may even require us to bring in professional outside wedding organisers.
To this figure will have to be added all the costs – furniture and equipment hire, flowers, caterers, wines, music, marquees, car park attendant, staff, accommodation etc. We can only begin to put a firm price on events when your plans have become more complete. Please ask for details of our indicative costing. We can only produce firm quotation once the details are more or less finalised.
We hope these notes are a helpful early step towards planning your wedding.
If, after reading this, your plans include Kincardine then please get in touch with an outline plan and we will do what we can to make your wedding arrangements easy for you. A site visit is an excellent next step. We know what a lot of work goes into planning a wedding and we will do everything we can to make it the best day of your lives. We look forward to working with you.
Please don’t forget that you will need a Marriage Licence. If you don’t have this vital document then all the rest of the preparations can be perfected but you won’t be legally married.Wedding Ceremonies
Some kind words from our previous guests…
“Thank you so much for coming to the rescue and making Lulu and Doug’s wedding such a success. You have taken fantastic care of us and made the whole thing really memorable”. April 2016 (Their original venue was washed away by a flood).
