Dinner Parties

As you wend your way up the drive from Kincardine O’Neil you get a keen sense of arrival – you know you’re approaching a special place. Suddenly you emerge from the wooded drive to see Kincardine Castle on the hillside above you. In winter the floodlit castle takes on a fairy-tale appearance.

Having left your coat in the splendid Entrance Hall a broad marble staircase leads you up into the Great Hall which is everything you would expect - mounted stags’ heads, Dutch Old Masters, family portraits and antique furniture all glow gently in the warm lighting and the smell of a log fire burning at the far end is an evocative treat for many visitors. Here you will have a glass or two of champagne while you meet your fellow guests.

The Dining Room is hung about with family portraits from 400 years of history but that isn’t what you notice first – it is the glittering tall silver candelabra and the candlelight reflecting off the warm glow of the huge mahogany table.

We pride ourselves that the food is as good as the setting, using the excellent local produce when possible and we specialise in matching the food with splendid fine wines.

After dinner we tend to repair to the Drawing Room for coffee, chocolates and a glass of port or liqueur.

Finally your transport will take you away – unless of course you’re lucky enough to be part of a house party that is staying the night.

Options and Capacities
We can serve dinner either in the Dining Room or the Great Hall. If in the latter then we provide pre-dinner drinks for guests in the Dining Room. We can also provide dinner for up to 84 (restricted to 78 in winter) but only by dining in 2 separate rooms - Dining Room and Drawing Room - the reception for which would be in the Great Hall.

For larger events still then there are several options utilising marquees - More info on our Marquee page.

Menus: We agree a menu with you beforehand, usually by arranging for you to communicate direct with the chef or caterer to keep lines of communication as direct as possible. Generally the menu, once agreed, is a fixed one but naturally we make provision for dietary requirements.

Wines: Once we know the menu we try to select fine wines to complement the food. Of course, if you have special requests for particular wines, we shall do what we can to obtain them.

Costs: It is rather difficult to price such a meal when we don’t know what you may want in the way of particular foods or wines. However it is fair to say that a ‘normal’ high quality dinner will cost around £100 per head, plus the facility fee (see below), plus VAT. This estimate includes average consumption of wines etc. before, during and after dinner up to 11.30pm.

Facility Fee:
